Tips on How to Get A Full Scholarship
So, thousands of students apply for scholarships each year, but have you wondered why only a few of them are successful? Of course, grades are important, many scholarship schemes look out for students in the top 5% of their class. But, apart from good grades, what makes one candidate successful with a scholarship application over another candidate?
Before anything else, you need to plan for your scholarship applications.
The mistake many students make is that they do not plan for their applications so when the deadline is almost up, they rush through their applications and submit them. A shabby application won’t get you that scholarship you need so you better plan well and do thorough work. Always remember you’re competing with 1000+ students for the same spot. Basically, you need to plan when to write your essay, ask for reviews, ask for recommendation letters, etc. Don’t wait till the last minute.
Secondly, you need to create a positive online presence.
Many people think social media is not a real place so they log online to bully people, and use abusive language. What happens is, sometimes, scholarship application boards do background checks for their top candidates. This is often the last stage of the selection process. If your social media is a space for abuse and bigotry, you’re less likely to be picked for a scholarship. Aside from being a decent human being on social media, you can also share intellectual ideas about topics related to your area of interest. In short, create a brilliant image for yourself, an image that institutions will be proud to support.
Lastly, you need to rehearse for your selection interview
Most of the time, the interview panel can tell when you’re not prepared for the interview. The truth is, if you don’t rehearse, your answers may not flow as smoothly as you want them to. I have learned from experience that the more you rehearse for an interview, the beteer prepared you’ll be. You can either set questions for yourself and rehearse in front of a mirror or seek help from friends.
I hope you found our list of global scholarships in 2022-2023 helpful. Sending some love and support to all scholarship candidates.
